Amaranthe was touched that a fellow scientist would look out for her like this, it wasn't the usual. "Thank you I appreciate this. I think your idea is a good one. I'll send the data to your NICOLE." Ze took a moment to do so, so that Pagus could send it off. He was right, this data was too important for it to be dismissed, based purely on who sent it.

Having received the data, he turns back around. "NICOLE, sweetie, when you've got a minute, can you send another message for me? Message as follows: Sending you astrological emissions data from Alina and Inuruz. Cross-reference with periods of increased solar flare activity and current train schedules. Once you have independently verified, call me back and I'll share more."

NICOLE's voice promptly responds "Processing request." A moment with a few clicks. "Message and data has been sent User Pagus." There is scarcely a whole minute later when she speaks again and a small communications interface hologram opens. "Incoming voice communications from User Ziridel. Communication is flagged as important. Do you wish to answer?"

"That was certainly quick! Yes, answer please." Pagus leans back in his chair and smiles.

Ziridel's voice comes through the network, a bit of static on the line but recent solar activity certainly explains that. She is immediately business like "First of all, who am I speaking to? Second, can you confirm the timestamps on this data? I want to be sure of what I'm seeing. Third, are you suggesting causality between the events or connection to some third outside variable? I'm on my way into my lab here in Cathedral to pull up independent data from my end to cross reference."

"This is Doctor Pagus Steinberg, online!" His tone sounds jolly. "I'm standing at the device which took the data at the moment, so I can verify the timestamps are accurate. We've found data, both visual and emissions-based, of a meteorite coming at us from the direction of Inuruz, and that event seems to have set off Alina's emissions. Of course, we can't know that for sure until somebody has cross-referenced. I overhead your earlier conversation with another scientist and thought you'd be interested in what we found."

"Pagus?!" Ziridel seems surprised for a second and you hear her footsteps halt. After a moment to compose herself she seems to resume hurriedly walking. "Sorry Dr. Steinberg, I had assumed after seeing you a bit ago you were otherwise occupied. I was just discussing the meteor sighting with Sleip myself, I was able to see the phenomenon from the broken train. Of course our geological experts were going to conduct a study on it, but I had no presumption that this could be related. So that's two stars and then our own sun with strange phenomenon recorded. Some sort of astrological phenomenon? I've long been concerned about the presence of errant dark matter but of course our sensors aren't that advanced..."
There is the sound of an electronic door sliding open and more footsteps. "Hold on, let me connect the call to my monitors." The voice line goes dead for a moment and then a new window opens, and you see Ziridel on the other end. The woman is looking a bit flustered but excited. "I'm pulling up in depth analysis of our solar flare timeline now. As you might have heard we've lost monitoring equipment to this.. whatever it is, but what we have should give us enough. Oh is that Amaranthe with you?" She sounds surprised again, "I must say I wasn't expecting you two working together, but you may have found something very interesting here..." She seems to be leaning close to a monitor looking over her data.

Pagus chuckles at the thought of himself after hearing their conversation. "Yes, you should really give the credit to Amaranthe here. It was her data which lead to this new analysis." Pagus smiles and spins around slightly in his chair. "I just put a few things together and refused to say what might be impossible." Pagus ponders a moment. "Dark matter, you say? We were speculating there might be some unknown forces linking the stars together, causing the chain reaction from Inuruz to Alina to our own star. Dark matter would certainly fill that bill. I'm intrigued by the meteor myself, if it's caused all this trouble. Perhaps I should mount an expedition to find its crash site and analyze the material it's made from. Might be more data to our point that it's caused the disruptions."

Amaranthe shook zer head. "We both worked together. I just made some observations and wrote them down." Ze was a little shocked to find Ziridel and Sleip suddenly open to their ideas on the matter at hand but wasn't about to complain.
"I want to continue working on this. Dr. Pagus I'd like to go with you on your expedition if you don't mind. I want to see this up close outside the lab, and gather as much data as I can. Would you be alright with this?"

"Hold up now before you start planning your little outing without me. Amaranthe, I know for a fact you're not combat certified, and I won't just be letting you head out to get devoured by some banshee monster when Doctor Steinberg gets distracted by some interesting specimen to study!" She says firmly but with humor in the statement. "Not to mention... I'm pulling from your data and what I've compiled from sensor readings, calculating sightings and trajectory of the phenomenon when it entered the atmosphere, it landed... here." She makes adjustments to the holo display and allows a map of Wasteland to take over half the screen she is talking from. She makes some motions and it zooms in to the south and west of Cathedral. "Sector B, some distance off into the middle of nowhere. Fastest way for us to get out there would be take a train straight to Indemni and hoof it from there. Conveniently most of my equipment is already there at my home base. I'm also anxious to analyze this object and see if it can confirm or debunk anything we're speculating, and moreover we're not going to get much further with guesswork here." She pauses, using NICOLE to look something up. "Next mag train to Indemni pulls out in... 45 minutes. I think I'll plan to be on it, what about you two?"

"I'll have to rush in order to gather my own equipment- there are a few things we'll be a lot safer if I have in hand! But yes, an expedition sounds exhilarating! Can we count on your home base in Indemni having basic supplies like food and water for the trip, or is this a 'bring your own' situation? Not a lot of time!"

In all the excitement the part about not being combat certified had slipped zer mind. "You're right. I'd rather not get eaten thanks." Ze thought for a moment about whether ze needed anything. Amaranthe had the notes, other than changing into sturdier shoes for an expedition ze seemed to be alright....well maybe bringing along tools to take samples and a few other pieces of equipment wouldn't hurt.
"I'm definitely coming along Ziridel and that sounds like a good plan to me."

Ziridel affirms that she'll have access to all the basic equipment and provisions requisitions they might need in Indemni, just to bring their own specialized gear they might want and meet her at the platform before the train pulls out. She pauses a moment before thanking them for bringing this to her attention and then cutting the line.
When both are ready, feel free to keep this thread for the mag train area.

Pagus's eyes go wide as the anxiety sets in. "Okay, before, when I was excited and went to go modify my equipment? This time I REALLY need to modify my systems for interference from solar flares...but I don't have enough time oh goodness what am I going to do we're going to fry in the desert and I'm going to end up eating sand sandwiches and run out of water and die and at least I won't overheat but goodness I have to go I'll see you in a bit!" Pagus bolts upright out of his chair and leaves the observatory, doing quick mental work as to how much time he'll have to reach the train area after hitting his lab and calculating how many extra supplies to modify his AEGIS platforms he'll be able to scoop up to jury-rig a system on the road.

Amaranthe listened to Dr. Pagus's string of anxious thoughts and before ze could say anything in response, he had left. Ze blinked for a moment processing it all. Then ze proceeded to gather what ze needed for the trip.
The idea of finding more information pertaining to this research was both exciting and a little terrifying too. This could help everyone with what's going on, but it could reveal bigger problems too. Who knew?
Amaranthe headed for the mag train station after Pagus once everything was ready.

Ziridel waits for the two on the platform, she seems to be in a voice call with Sleip (the weather scientist) explaining what they are looking into. He sounds skeptical but tells her to report anything interesting to him all the same. She hangs up and turns to them as they arrive. "I already reserved us the back car, that way we can talk and prepare equipment without interruption." She nods towards her own small trolley with various monitoring equipment hastily packed.

Pagus strolls up, significantly calmer now that he has raided his workshop for supplies. He has a satchel of parts, and carries his usual array of pouches and satchels with various odds and ends. Pagus has his WASP crossbow wrapped around his right wrist, with the solar panels already open on his forearm to begin charging. Also present on his back are four metal cylinders in a carrying tube. He confidently approaches Ziridel and looks around with a smile. "I'm looking forward to the ride! I could use the chance to modify my defensive systems for resistance against increased solar activity!"

Amaranthe was only a few minutes behind Pagus, there was a pack on zer back containing everything ze might need. "I am also looking forward to the trip as well, to see what we'll find. Ziridel, what are the chances we will run into hostiles?"
Combat did make zer rather nervous since ze wasn't very experienced with it but having Ziridel around made zer feel better. Ze took note of everything Pagus had brought with him, and suddenly wondered if ze had under packed.

"Venturing into the Wasteland is always a danger. Were we to have more time, I would requisition accompaniment from a security team, but with time being of the essence, well we'd better get out there before too much tampering has been done with our evidence."
While they are boarding the train and getting their gear set up in the last car, Ziridel converses with Pagus about the best ways they should go about shielding their technology from interference from Solar Flares. After a few minutes of technological jargon and talk of circuitry and whatnot, they are settled into their task, occasionally making smalltalk or talking about the issue at hand.
The train car is comfortable enough, a small seating car with a normally stocked bar area, Ziridel has had the car emptied except for them and they are able to use the counterspace to set out tools and gear on to begin working. Feel free to bring up any conversations they might have, otherwise I'll be skipping time ahead an hour at a time to sort our what they're working on shielding during that time frame.
During the first hour, Ziridel is adding shielding and backup systems to her specialized pistol weapons, occasionally checking something related to her Core, which presumably interacts with her weapons in combat.

Pagus begins by tinkering with one of his AEGIS pillars to prevent the system from overloading from solar emissions. "You survived the solar emissions in that train, didn't you, Ziridel? Did it have any impact on your Core? If there's any chance those stop working or their usage is modified, we need to absolutely do something to prevent that."
